Historia KR

Historia arrived at Red Hills Ranch as a two year old. As the first "young" stock that we purchased, Historia was chosen after years of observing different bloodlines and types of PRE horses. Every breeder has their own ideal image of a PRE. This develops over time from observing how certain horses look (conformation), move (athleticism), behave (temperament), and feel. I had a good idea of what I wanted from the first three traits mentioned above, but Historia has taught me what I want in the latter... Feel. I have never ridden anything that feels the way she does. You will hear this time and again when talking with those who ride PRE horses. From the first day under saddle, Historia felt like an extension of myself. A thought or suggestion was all that was needed to teach her. There was never any resistance, only thoughtfulness and willingness on her part. The trainer helping me at the time said (paraphrasing) "...if you can bottle what she has, you will have what every rider wants..." And this is exactly what we aim to do in breeding this fantastic mare. In fact, it was shortly after Historia was started under saddle that we obtained her dam, Huelva III, to continue developing our breeding program. Huelva was imported from Mexico by Barb Clark. Huelva is a half sister to Genio III (sire of Kianto, among others). Historia's sire is the well-known dressage stallion Gavilan IV.
Historia is in foal to Kamiakin for 2010.
